More information

We celebrated our 5th annual golf event in a big way…with more golfers than ever before, more money raised for melanoma research, and even a visit from our local Congressman.

The event was held on September 10, 2007 at Stonewall Golf Club in Gainesville, VA. Because we sold out all 144 spots so early this year, we actually allowed an additional 16 golfers the opportunity to tee off in a special morning shotgun start, giving us 160 players for the day. Overall, our event raised over $40,000, which will be donated to the M.D, Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, bringing our total donations for melanoma research to more than $130,000.

Congressman Tom Davis of Virginia’s 11th District, a melanoma survivor himself, took part in our opening ceremonies. We were also blessed by the presence of Dr. Wen-Jen Hwu, Dr. Merrick Ross, and Dr. Steven Mays, all of M.D. Anderson, as well as Miss Brittany Lietz, the 2006 Miss Maryland (and current Redskins cheerleader) and also a melanoma survivor.

We want to thank all of our hole sponsors, raffle and auction donors, and especially our primary sponsors:
Elizabeth and Haley Cole
ASTRO
CapTech Ventures
iCore
Infinitive
Ratner Companies

We also want to thank R&R Catering for providing lunch, Ruth’s Chris Steak House of Fairfax for sponsoring the putting contest, Moe’s Southwest Grill for sponsoring a contest hole, Sheehy Nissan-Mitsubishi for offering up a 2008 Nissan 350Z and other fabulous hole-in-one prizes (no one collected this year), and Joanne Lingerfelt for sponsoring the closest to the pin contest.
